Anthony J. (Tony) Harding
Chief Executive Officer

Tony Harding serves as CEO of United Water’s nationwide water and wastewater operations. These encompass both regulated and non-regulated businesses. He has 34 years of experience in engineering and operations including management of major water businesses in Europe and Asia.

Prior to joining United Water, Harding was president of Suez Environment Local Services, ASEAN, with overall responsibility for the water and waste activities in South East Asia, including major water contracts in the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Australia and New Zealand. Before that he served as Group CEO of Ondeo Services UK Plc, managing director of Northumbrian Water and managing director of Essex & Suffolk Water Plc. Harding held positions of increasing responsibility from 1974 to 1992 with Essex Water Company, including operations director, technical services manager and divisional engineer. Before joining the water industry, he was a civil engineer with the construction company George Wimpey.

Harding has served on the council of the water association body Water UK and has been chairman of its national customer services and environment committees. During this time, he acted as a technical expert in Brussels on two European water directives.

In addition to his executive assignments, Harding’s directorships have included Ondeo Services UK Plc (UK), Australian Water Services Pty Ltd. (Australia), New Zealand Water Services Pty Ltd. (NZ), Lyonnaise Vietnam Water Company Ltd. (Chairman), Lyonnaise Asia Water Private Ltd. (Singapore), Maynilad Water Services, Inc (Philippines), PT Pam Lyonnaise Jaya (Indonesia) and Sitaclean Technologies (S) Private Ltd. (Singapore).

Harding is a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Chartered Institution of Water & Environmental Management, as well as a fellow and former national president (2000) of the Institution of Water Officers. He holds an undergraduate degree in civil engineering from the University of Glamorgan, Wales. He is also a Chartered Engineer registered on the Engineering Council.
