The Bergen Leadership Society is the premier vehicle for individuals who wish to direct their philanthropy toward changing lives. It is the most powerful way for you to make a difference, to think differently and do things differently with your philanthropic investment.

Members of the Bergen Leadership Society contribute $1,000 or more annually to make a lasting impact in our community. In doing so, members raise others’ awareness of the importance of leadership giving, while also inspiring business associates and friends to increase their philanthropic efforts.

The significance of this support is tremendous - more than 250 Society members, translating to over $600,000 is raised annually by individuals giving at the leadership level. These resources allow us to help when help is most needed.

DeTocqueville Society
The DeTocqueville Society is named after Alexis DeTocqueville, author of Democracy in America in 1835, who immortalized the voluntary spirit that lives in American hearts. It is a national society created to honor the extraordinary generosity of members who provide the highest level of leadership support, contributing at least $10,000 to Bergen County’s United Way on an annual basis.
