More on Mark
Mark had been homeless for years, living on the streets, in shelters and couch surfing now and then. He is the first chronically homeless individual to receive one of the "Housing Works" rental assistance vouchers. John, who is his housing counselor from Care Plus helped him to find an apartment. They looked first at a one bedroom, which he said was just too big. The studio apartment they saw next had all the space he needed.
Mark moved into his apartment on a Friday. On Monday morning he come to the Next Step Program at Christ Church CDC because he wanted to start his job search. Mary Sunden, Executive Director of CCCDC couldn't help but notice that Mark was smiling from ear to ear. She put her arm around him and commented about how happy he appeared. He said, "Guess what I did this week-end in MY new home. I took a bath for an hour!"
