Housing First
This community demonstrates an impulse to help in times of need, especially during the holiday season. Our United Way provides you with a meaningful way to make the most of this impulse, by helping a family on the path to independence.
Move in Ready
This holiday season we are working to end homelessness so that everyone can feel safe and warm this year.
According to a 2008 Point in Time survey, 1,023 adults and 604 children were homeless in Bergen County.
We are ending homelessness one person at a time, one family at a time, we are changing lives through our Housing Works Program. The program provides a permanent address to families and individuals so they can move from the instability of homelessness to a contributing member of society.
Help us create a Home by donating household items to give new homeowners the basic necessities needed to start their lives over.
A move in basket will include:
- Bath and kitchen towels
- Plates, bowls and glasses
- Spoons, forks and knives
- Alarm clocks
- Kitchen utensils
- Household cleaning products (dish soap, sponges, bath/counter cleaner)
- Pillows
You can donate any single item, or organize a product drive in your school, workplace or house of worship.
Please only new or gently used items (New Jersey fire safety and health safety standards do not permit our redistribution of used electrical items, or any cloth materials).
Please contact Rachel White at
