Casino Royale Raises $16,000 For Bergen County’s United Way.
Jeff Kopyta of Glen Rock Holds Winning Hand in Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament
BERGEN
COUNTY, APRIL 30, 2007 – There was a packed house, all for a good cause when Bergen County’s
United Way held its Casino Royale fundraiser at the Bacari Grill in Washington
Township. The event raised $16,000 for flood relief.
“The
devastation of the recent flooding was on everyone’s mind. There was an
expressed desire to use event proceeds to rebuild,” said Tom Toronto, President
of Bergen County’s United Way. “Every dollar will go toward putting lives back
together. Our commitment is to help directly, in whatever way is most needed.”
In the Texas
Hold ‘Em Poker tournament, Jeff Kopyta of Glen Rock held the winning hand and walked
away with the tournament Grand Prize – an LG 42 Plasma TV. Bob Sendewicz of Medco
Health Solutions was the second prize winner, receiving a Palm Treo donated for
the event by Cingular Wireless.
For most in
attendance, it was the gaming tables that held the magic. Players tested their
luck at Craps, Black Jack, the Money Wheel, and Roulette. For every $50 in
chips, players received a raffle ticket giving everyone a chance to leave a
winner.
Sponsors for
the evening included UPS, Playtex, IBM, Valley National Bank, PSEG, Time Warner
and United Water.
Bergen
County’s United Way is how our community uses its head, and its heart, to lend
people a hand. The organization is helping in direct and vital ways and is
making getting help easier. A call to the United Way’s 2-1-1 helpline makes
the simple but critical connection to help 24 hours a day, everyday, wherever it
is needed.
