Bucky Pizzarelli To Headline Cancer Benefit

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ, October 9, 2006- Legendary jazz musician Bucky Pizzarelli will perofrm at Jazz at the Bacari, a gala cocktail reception on Sunday, November 5th from 6:00pm-8:30pm at the Bacari Grill in Washington Township.

The annual event, featuring live jazz, fine wine, an array of culinary delights, benefits those affected by cancer in our community through CancerCare of New Jersey, Phyl’s Fund and Bergen County’s United Way. The evening will also include a silent auction of extraordinary gifts of all kinds.

“To have a musician as talented as Bucky support our event is thrilling”, stated Henry Klein, founder and Executive Director of Phyl’s Fund and one of the organizers of this year’s fundraiser. “He is a great performer who cares about giving back to the community. I hope people will come out to see him- it’s a chance to enjoy great music, food and friends while supporting an important cause at the same time.”

Title Sponsors for this year’s event are Medco Health Solutions and Pfizer Inc. Major sponsors include Hudson City Savings Bank, The Hertz Corporation, PSE&G and United Water. Supporting sponsors include the Bacari Grill, IBM Corporation and Valley National Bank.

Tickets will once again start at $75 per person. Please contact Krista Garofalo at 201-986-7727 or kgarofalo@bergenunitedway.org for tickets or sponsorship opportunities.

Phyl’s Fund was established in loving memory of Phyllis Klein of Demarest, NJ who died following a valiant battle with breast cancer in 2002. The mission of Phyl’s Fund is to enrich the lives of individuals affected by cancer and their caregivers by serving as a source of support and expert advice. Phyl’s Fund sponsors support groups for individuals affected by cancer and those who care for them. Last June, Phyl's fund sponsored the Hearts of Hope Camp designed for families who lost a loved one to cancer. Families enjoyed camp activities and had access to counselors from Cancer Care. Contributions will be used to increase the number of support groups and camp weekends.
