For the past 5 years, Bergen County's United Way has partnered with Phyl's Fund to enrich the lives of those affected by cancer in our community.

Phyl's Fund was established in loving memory of Phyllis Klein of Demarest, NJ, who died following a valiant battle with breast cancer in 2002. The mission of Phyl's Fund is to enrich the lives of those affected by cancer as well as their caregivers, friends and family by serving as a source of group support and expert advice. Phyl's Fund sponsors support groups for individuals affected by cancer and those who care for them.

This annual gala cocktail reception features live music, fine wine, samples of many different culinary delights, and a fabulous silent auction. All of the money raised benefits cancer support groups throughout Bergen County.

This year's event will also feature casino gaming including: Blackjack, Craps, Poker and Roulette.

This innovative philanthropy, launched by the United Way in 2005, hosts events and activities year round to encourage women to use their financial resources to make a lasting difference in the world around them. Their "gatherings" are designed to educate, entertain and help to build a community of like-minded women in Bergen County.

The 11th Annual Bergen County Golf Classic

The Bergen County Golf Classic is held at the Ridgewood Country Club, one of the nations premier courses. The event attracts a capacity crowd of players from the areas most notable corporations. Proceeds benefit Bergen Countys United Way Compassion Fund and the Volunteer Center of Bergen Countys joint community-based volunteer development and placement services. To date, the event has raised more $500,000!

PSE&G Teterboro Airport 5K

Over 800 entrants raced this year. The unique venue is certified and the race is sanctioned by USA Track & Field and is a Grand Prix Series Race. Over $10,000 in random prizes are awarded.

Proceeds from the Teterboro Airport 5K benefit 2-1-1 the United Ways 24 hour helpline. Free and confidential, 2-1-1 makes the critical connection to vital programs and services when help is most needed  whether it is a community-wide crisis or an everyday concern.
